Throughout the year, the Albany Institute hosts fundraising events including our annual Museum Gala at the Fort Orange Club. 5:00pm–7:00pm September Fall Concert on the lawn Wednesday, September 14, 5:00-7:00 pm AIHA's Summer concert series was so popular, we decided to add another one! Join us on the lawn (weather permitting) on Wednesday, September 18. As we welcome the talented and Albany favorite Theresa Boardwell Quartet! Theresa played at this year's museum gala so those of you who could not attend you are in for a treat. This concert is free and in partnership with Music Performance Trust and Albany Musicians Local 14 AFM

12:00pm–4:00pm Family Free Day Sunday, September 22 Noon- 4:00 PM   Join us for a family fun-free day with activities inspired by the exhibition Enchanting Threads: The Art of Salley Mavor, the Utica Zoo Mobile will be doing an interactive, formal presentation program with an educator who will be introducing a variety of live animals related to New York State, and Storytelling with Barry Marshall and Jeri Burns the stories will be inspired from tales and folklore from all over the world.   Funding for Free Family Days is provided by M&T Bank, CDPHP, and the J.M. McDonald Foundation.

2:00pm–4:00pm Join Greene County Historian Jonathan Palmer for an illustrated talk celebrating the story of the Catskill Mountain House. Learn about the famous hotel that shaped how America saw itself, from its unlikely origins in the early 1820s to its tragic decline in the mid-20th century. On the 200th anniversary of its construction, attendees will get to contemplate what the Mountain House represented, who it represented, and how the phenomenon it started continues to shape our relationship to the natural world."   Jonathan Palmer has served as Greene County Historian since 2020 and as Archivist for the County of Ulster since 2023. He is a 2012 graduate of Columbia-Greene Community College, Siena Class of 2014, and holds an MSIS from the University at Albany.

5:30pm–8:00pm Headshot Happy Hour Thursday, October 10, 5:30-8:00 pm Every professional needs, a good head-and-shoulders portrait. Unfortunately, mobile phone photography led to many "good enough" pictures on LinkedIn pages, websites and business cards. Besides, who has time to go to a studio? With Head Shot Happy Hour, the studio comes to the relaxed atmosphere of the Rice House - and the evening includes a networking reception with complimentary lite fare and cocktails Emily Michelle photography will provide a fresh take on the traditional headshot. This fun and relaxing photo experience will be a far cry from school picture day   The cost is $50. Headshots will be taken every ten minutes.
