Albany Institute of History & Art (125 Washington Ave, Albany, NY 12210)
First Friday - An evening with Nell Stokes
Albany Institute of History & Art holds extended hours for the city of Albany's popular First Friday program! This month includes a reception with special guest Nell Stokes. Stokes is the subject of our current exhibition Nell Stokes: Stories of an Education Advocate displayed on the museum's first floor. The exhibition represents the breadth of the local activist's network and her commitment to community through photographs, pamphlets, and other ephemera drawn from the Nell Stokes Manuscript Collection. This First Friday, meet Stokes, see the exhibition during its final months on view, and enjoy a cash bar.
Remarks by Executive Director Kayla Carlsen and exhibition curator Lacey Wilson will begin at approximately 5:30PM. Admission to AIHA is free on Friday, November 1 from 5–7PM as part of Albany's First Friday program.
