The Sierra Club’s Atlantic Chapter is the oldest grassroots environmental organization in New York. The Atlantic Chapter, with its office located in Albany, believes open spaces, clean water, and natural resources should be protected so that current and future generations may enjoy them. The Atlantic Chapter includes more than 46,000 members throughout New York. The Atlantic Chapter accomplishes its goals through direct and grassroots legislative and administrative lobbying, education, outings, litigation, and electing environmental champions to local, state, and federal office. The Atlantic Chapter values diversity and promotes environmental education and environmental justice in its efforts to fulfill the mission to explore, enjoy, and protect New York’s natural heritage and to protect public health.
