Parisian-trained cabinet-maker Lannuier arrived in New york in 1803, one of many French emigre craftsmen who came to work in major American cities at the end of the 18th century.  Lannuier brought to America an excellent knowledge of current fashions and contacts in the Paris trades that could supply him with prevailing design sources and superior ornaments such as fine ormulu mounts and possibly stampled brass inlays.
