| The skillful and rhythmic portraits in this series portray a woman in a variety of guises. To create these works, which are in one sense self-portraits, the artist dressed up in her studio and stood before a mirror to capture the image and personality of each character. Gayle Johnson received a BA from Brown University and an MA in Painting from the State University of New York at Albany. She exhibited widely in the region and was an assistant professor of Studio Art at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. |
