Robert Cartmell has had a lifelong passion for roller coasters.  His roller coaster images, depicted with crosshatches reminiscent of Rembrandt, sometime take center stage, or are tucked away in corners.

Cartmell is an internationally recognized artist and a renowned authority on the history of roller coasters.  He received his BFA from the University of Chicago and his MA and MFA from the University of Iowa.  He has had a distinguished teaching career at the State University of New York at Albany since 1971.
